Called. Heb. qara’. Here obviously with the meaning “to summon in a legal sense.” Job is saying, If I had challenged God to a controversy, and He had granted it, and bidden me to plead my cause at His bar, yet could I not suppose that He really meant it, and would allow me boldly to stand before Him and freely to challenge His doings. Such condescension seems inconceivable to Job.
