Theological / Devotional

Shaketh the earth. Doubtless a reference to earthquakes (1 Kings 19:11; see Ps. 104:32; Zech. 14:4, 5; Matt. 24:7). Pillars thereof tremble. A poetic description of earthquakes. It is not necessary to find a literal explanation for the “pillars.”
