Spreadeth out the heavens. See Ps. 104:2; Isa. 40:22; Jer. 10:12. The figure extols the omnipotence of God by calling attention to His handiwork. Waves of the sea. Literally, “heights of the sea.” God is pictured as one who has power to subdue the proud might of the waves.
