Theological / Devotional

Jesus beheld him. In v. 36 (see comment there) “looking” is from the same Greek word here translated “beheld.”

Simon ... Cephas. See on Matt. 16:18; Mark 3:16. The name “Simon” is from the Greek form of the Hebrew “Simeon” (see on Gen. 29:33).
