Commentary on John 5:40

Theological / Devotional

Come to me. In two later discourses Jesus showed clearly that coming to Him results in eternal life, and that to “come” to Him is synonymous with believing in Him (chs. 6:35; 7:37, 38). Although the Jews repeatedly came to Him to hear and question Him, they did not come in faith or with a sense of their own need of His power to save.
