Theological / Devotional

Rise. Jesus’ words here are strikingly similar to those in Mark 2:11. Their terseness and directness must have inspired confidence in the sick man (see DA 202, 203). Jesus apparently made no attempt to refute the superstition regarding the pool, nor did He question the causes of the man’s disease. Rather, by a positive approach He enjoined the man to demonstrate his faith. For the requirements Jesus made of those whom He would heal see p. 209.

Bed. A pallet that might easily be rolled up and carried on the shoulder.
