Theological / Devotional

Followed. Or, according to the tense of the verb in Greek, “were following,” that is, constantly. This apparently refers to the general popularity of Jesus at the climax of His Galilean ministry, after an extended period of travel, teaching, and healing among the towns and villages of Galilee (see on v. 1).

They saw. Literally, “they were seeing.” As the crowds followed Jesus they repeatedly saw Him working miracles.
