Commentary on John 6:50
Theological / DevotionalWhich cometh down. Jesus does not speak here specifically of His birth, but of the fact that from eternity He is the Mediator between God and man, the One by whom God communicates with the world and through whom He saves the world (see 1 Cor. 8:6).
Not die. The manna, which the Jews claimed Moses had given their fathers (see v. 31), had not prevented their dying; but Jesus offers a heavenly sustenance that ensures eternal life.
