Like this man. See on Matt. 7:29. Concerning the precise manner of our Lord’s public speaking we can form only a remote idea. Action and voice, delivery and articulation, are things that must be seen and heard to be appreciated. That our Lord’s manner was peculiarly solemn, arresting, and impressive, we need not doubt. It was probably something very unlike the Jewish intonations at the readings of the Law, and quite different from what officers and people were accustomed to hearing.
