Theological / Devotional

Fifty years old. According to Num. 4:3 the sons of Kohath were to render service between the ages of 30 and 50. The age of 50 was therefore in a sense a retirement age. Beyond that, obligatory service ceased, but they could assist in the tabernacle according to their ability (Num. 8:25, 26). The Jews were doubtless speaking in round numbers. Jesus was actually only about 33 years old (see p. 242; see on Luke 3:23).
