Commentary on John 8:9

Theological / Devotional

Convicted. They had come to convict the woman. They went away convicted by their own conscience. They left the scene doubtless fearing that the guilty secrets of their lives, and particularly their own complicity in this case (see DA 461), would be revealed to the multitude. Their defeat could not have been more dramatic.
