Theological / Devotional

Moses’ disciples. Although not a common designation, the expression is found in the Talmud in a reference to Pharisaic scholars (Yoma 4a, Soncino ed., p. 12). The disciples of Jesus are contrasted with the disciples of Moses. A similar contrast is made in the Mishnah between the disciples of Abraham and the disciples of Balaam, as the Christians are designated (Aboth 5.19, Soncino ed. of the Talmud, pp. 72, 73).
