Commentary on John 9:30
Theological / DevotionalA marvellous thing. Literally, “the marvelous thing.” These religious leaders should have been familiar with the origin and claims of so notable a miracle worker as Jesus. He had been active among them for over three years. Evidence after evidence had been given to inspire faith, but the Jews turned against the evidence of their senses. They chose willful ignorance, and their dramatic exposure on this occasion was folly merited.
