Theological / DevotionalHe could do nothing. This point some of the Pharisees themselves had raised (v. 16). Nicodemus had confessed the same (ch. 3:2). The man had scored a complete victory. His logic was irrefutable. The Pharisees were baffled. Having nothing with which to answer his arguments, they resorted to invective.
