Theological / Devotional

Moses sware. See Num. 14:20-24 and Deut. 1:34-36, where this oath is attributed to the Lord. There is no contradiction here. Moses was God’s spokesman, and may have afterward repeated the oath of God, and confirmed it with his own mouth. We today use similar terminology when we say that Isaiah says so and so, when the word actually originated with the Lord.

Whereon thy feet. Probably a direct reference to Hebron (see on v. 6).
