Theological / Devotional

Bones of Joseph. The act of burying Joseph’s bones, though here related after the account of the death of Joshua, probably took place before it, at the time of the gathering at Shechem described in this chapter. There is nothing in the original to prevent the verb from being translated “had buried,” thus implying that the burial had taken place some time before.
