Theological / Devotional

Not swear by my name falsely. By implication this permits the judicial oath. It is not concerned with swearing (in court) as such, but with swearing falsely. Perjury is rightly considered a most serious crime, because it perverts justice. It is a definite breach of the third commandment and merits severe punishment (Matt. 5:33-37).
