Theological / Devotional

In the case of the anointed high priest, nothing is said of atonement or forgiveness, though pardon was doubtless received upon confession. Because the high priest ministered his own sacrifice, the statement about making atonement is omitted. For the people, the priest was to make atonement and forgiveness was granted. The bullock was carried outside the camp and burned in a clean place, as with the high priest’s sin offering.
