Theological / Devotional

A lamb was less expensive than a goat and expected from a poor man, considered the poor man’s offering. Christ is repeatedly called the Lamb of God, the poor man’s sacrifice. The ritual was the same as for a goat.

The graduated scale of offerings reflects God’s justice and mercy, considering the sinner’s responsibility and ability to provide.
