Theological / Devotional

Besides sprinkling before the veil, the priest put some blood on the horns of the altar of incense, touching each horn in turn to mark that sin had been committed and an offering brought. The blood was sin-laden, necessitating yearly atonement on the horns (Exodus 30:10). The unused blood was poured out at the altar’s base.
