Theological / Devotional

If too poor for birds, the guilty could bring a small portion of fine flour without oil or frankincense, making it a sin offering. The priest burned a handful on the altar.

This is a sin offering without blood, an exception to the general rule that “without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). The exception explains the “almost” in Hebrews 9:22.

Actual remission requires the blood of Christ, but types allowed some bloodless sin offerings.
