Theological / Devotional

Saluted Elisabeth. Mary and Elisabeth immediately found themselves bound together by a common bond of sympathy. It was apparent to Mary that the sign given by the angel (v. 36) was indeed true, and this confirmed her faith. Also, Zacharias was still speechless, and his dumbness, now of six months’ duration, attested the appearance of the angel to him and served as a continuing rebuke to his earlier lack of faith.
