Theological / Devotional

Say. This prayer might more appropriately be called the Disciples’ Prayer, for it is not altogether the type of prayer that Jesus would have prayed. It seems more appropriate for erring mortals. For instance, Jesus had no need to pray for forgiveness of sin. For comment on the prayer as Jesus gave it upon an earlier occasion see on Matt. 6:9-13 (see COL 140).

Our Father. A new name by which Jesus taught men to address God in order to strengthen their faith and to impress upon them the intimate relationship they are privileged to enjoy in fellowship with Him (COL 141, 142).
