My fruits. Notice his possessiveness: “my fruits,” “my barns,” “my goods,” “my soul” (cf. Hosea 2:5). His thoughts were all of self. Evidently he did not realize that “he that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord” (Proverbs 19:17).
