What king? For the meaning of this parable and its relation to the discourse as a whole see on verse 28. The previous illustration is from the business world; this, from the political world, illustrates the same truth.

Twenty thousand. The odds appear against the king with 10,000, but it may be that other factors will tend to cancel out the numerical superiority of the enemy and make the prospect of victory a possibility.
