Theological / Devotional

He was angry. As were the scribes and Pharisees toward Jesus (v. 2). The anger of the son stands forth in supreme contrast with the utter joy of the father (see on vs. 20, 22).

Would not go in. According to the Greek, he persistently refused to do so even after repeated urging by his father in person.
