Theological / Devotional

The true riches. That is, spiritual “riches” (see James 2:5). Compare Christ’s admonition not to work for “the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life” (John 6:27). A little earlier in His Peraean ministry Jesus warned men against laying up treasure for themselves instead of being “rich toward God” (Luke 12:21).
