Theological / Devotional

They which went before. Or, “the ones who were in front.” This furnishes the possibility of an interesting side light on the formation of the group traveling with Jesus. “They which went before” may have been part of Jesus’ own company, not simply some of the curious throng that always gathered about Him, nor even some of the pilgrims who chanced to be going up to Jerusalem in the same direction as Jesus (see on Mark 10:47).
