Theological / Devotional

Those mine enemies. That is, those who had rebelled in the absence of the nobleman, and who had sought to prevent him from receiving his kingdom (see on v. 14).

Slay. Gr. katasphazo, “to slaughter.” Apparently those who had opposed the nobleman had not reformed. They were still opposed to his rule, and the only way to safeguard the peace and security of the realm was to dispose of them once and for all.
