Bring ... good tidings. Gr. euaggelizo, “to proclaim good news,” or “to announce glad tidings.” Our words “evangelist,” “evangelize,” and “evangelism” are derived from this Greek word. It is in this sense that the gospel writers are “evangelists.” From its very inception Christianity has announced “good tidings” or “good news,” the “good news” or “gospel” of redeeming love, of salvation.

To all people. According to the apostolic commission, the disciples were to “teach all nations” the gospel of salvation (Matt. 28:19).
