Suddenly. An innumerable throng of angels had gathered above the hills of Bethlehem, awaiting the angelic announcement of the birth of the Saviour.

Host. Gr. stratia, “army,” “host,” or “band,” a common military term, here referring to the ranks of the angelic host (see on Ps. 24:10; Joshua 5:14).
