Theological / Devotional

The people (crowds) kept asking John what they should do. After each discourse, they sought personal application, and John gave appropriate counsel.

“What shall we do?” shows the people’s eagerness to prepare for the coming wrath and kingdom. John’s preaching stirred hearts to immediate response. He pointed out individual sins to guide each person’s beginning. Josephus described John as a good man who commanded righteousness and piety leading to baptism.
