Commentary on Luke 3:27

Theological / Devotional

Zerubbabel is called son of Salathiel and Salathiel son of Neri by Luke; Matthew calls Salathiel son of Jeconiah. Various explanations exist, including adoption or legal succession. Luke follows the Septuagint text, which differs from the Masoretic text.

Neri and others named here are not mentioned elsewhere and cover the period from Babylonian captivity back to Solomon.
