Merciful. Or, “compassionate.” How deserving the fellow men may or may not be in no way determines the Christian’s attitude and actions toward them. The motive power for this kind of living lies in the Christian’s sonship to God through Christ, whose love “constrains” or controls him (see 2 Cor. 5:14).
