Theological / Devotional

We call the proud happy. The murmurers do not consider that the humble and meek are “happy,” or blessed by the Lord, but consider that the “proud” and arrogant enjoy good fortune and well-being in the world (see Isa. 13:11).

They that tempt God. That is, those who put God to the test and provoke Him by reason of their wickedness. The LXX reads, “They have resisted God.”
