As he walked. [The Call by the Sea, Mark 1:16-20 = Matt. 4:18-22 = Luke 5:1-11. Major comment: Luke.] Literally, “as He was passing by.”

Simon. See on ch. 3:16. Mark uses the name Simon in ch. 3:16, where he records the fact that Jesus gave Simon the name Peter, and then, with one exception (ch. 14:37), he employs the latter name.
