Gave it to her mother. Salome had no use for the grisly gift. But nothing could possibly have been more gratifying to her bloodthirsty mother. About nine years later, in A.D. 39, Herod Antipas, accompanied by Herodias, was banished for aspiring to royal dignity (Josephus Antiquities xviii. 7; War ii. 9. 6 [183]).
