Theological / Devotional

Kept that saying. In spite of the fact that they missed much of what it was their privilege to learn from the experience, the disciples evidently were impressed by Christ’s statement that He would rise from the dead. However, they could not grasp the idea of a suffering Messiah. They were still blinded by the popular concept of the Messiah as a mighty conqueror (see on Luke 4:19).

Rising from the dead. The disciples were puzzled as to what connection such an event might have with the One whom they considered to be the Messiah.
