Matthew 12:26

Cast out Satan. Satan was engaged in mortal combat with Christ (see Rev. 12:7—9; cf. Matt. 4:1-11; John 12:31; John 16:11; etc.). The devil could hardly be foolish enough to work at cross-purposes with himself, sustaining the claims of his archenemy, Christ, by cooperating with Him in the expulsion of demons he himself had inflicted upon men. On the basis of such a policy “his kingdom” was certain to fall. Herewith Jesus reduced the argument of the Pharisees to absurdity, and His reasoning was so clear and simple that all could see it.
