Theological / Devotional

Princes. This was not the first time Jesus had instructed His disciples with respect to humility and service (see on Matt. 18:1, 3; Mark 9:35).

Exercise dominion. Literally, “lord it over,” or “exercise lordship over.” Earthly authority functions on the basis of power. Indeed it cannot be otherwise.
