Theological / Devotional

They went to buy. After the close of probation it will be too late to acquire those traits of character needed to accompany the heavenly Bridegroom to His Father’s house, not because of any unwillingness on the part of God, but because character has already been fixed.

The door was shut. Compare the feelings of Esau when he discovered that he had forfeited the birthright (see on Heb. 12:17). Their exclusion from the wedding feast was the result of their own deliberate choice (see GC 542, 543).
