Theological / Devotional

Peter. Peter was often spokesman for the disciples (see chs. 14:28; 16:16, 22; 17:4, 24). Here, however, it seems that he spoke on his own behalf exclusively, as feeling superior to his fellow disciples. Jesus’ words recorded in ch. 26:31, 32 apparently made no real impression on him. His impulsive reply was characteristic (see on Mark 3:16), but ill-considered.
