Ye have heard. See v. 21.

Forswear. Greek epiorkeo, “to swear falsely.” Refers to solemn affirmations or promises invoking God’s name, not profanity but perjury.

Perform thine oaths. Jesus emphasizes keeping promises made to God. The solemnity of vows is stressed (Lev. 19:12; Num. 30:2; Deut. 23:21).
