Theological / Devotional

Children of your Father. Literally “sons of your Father.” They resemble God in character (MB 75; vs. 43,48).

Which is in heaven. Phrase characteristic of Matthew.

On the evil. Jesus discredits the Jewish belief that God blesses saints and withholds blessings from sinners (John 9:2). Jews wrongly attributed to God their own hatred for sinners and Gentiles. God is impartial (Acts 10:34,35).
