Theological / Devotional

If ye forgive. Compare Matt. 18:23-35; Mark 11:25, 26. See on Matt. 6:12.

Trespasses. Gr. paraptomata, from a verb meaning “to fall to one side.” Note that the word “debts” of v. 12 is from a different Greek word. The word paraptomata implies deviation from truth or uprightness. In the NT it seems to denote a conscious violation of right, one that, therefore, involves guilt.
