Theological / Devotional

On this fashion. Or, “anything like this.” The man who had come into the presence of Jesus with a profound sense of need went away in triumphant joy, while those who came in self-satisfaction, pride, and malice went away “dumb with amazement and overwhelmed with defeat” (DA 270). The spirit in which men approach Jesus determines whether they find in Him a steppingstone to heaven or a stumbling block to destruction (see Matt. 21:44; Luke 2:34; 1 Peter 2:8).
