Theological / Devotional

Shiloni. Since it seems strange for a Jew to have come from Shiloh, a city in the northern kingdom of Israel, the Masoretic vocalization of this word is probably incorrect. The phrase should probably be rendered, “the son of a Shelanite,” meaning a descendant of Shelah, Judah’s third son, father of “the family of the Shelanites” (Num. 26:20).
