Tempted me. The Hebrew word here used means “to test,” “to put to the proof,” and not “to tempt” in the modern sense. Compare the following use of the same verb translated “prove,” meaning “test”: Ex. 15:25; 20:20; Dan. 1:12, 14; Mal. 3:10.
