Sons of Manasseh. In ch. 32:39 the land of Gilead is given to Machir by Moses. Here, the terms of genealogy allude to that fact. Machir had no son, so the Machirites were afterward called Gileadites as well as Machirites. Their inheritance is mentioned in Joshua 17:1,2.
