Theological / Devotional

A possession. They were pleading for a share of land along with others descended from Manasseh. Then the name of their father could be perpetuated — by a son of one of them taking the name of his mother’s grandfather, Hepher (v. 1). A general law to this effect was afterward adopted (Deut. 25:6).
